  7. The Advisor family of products uses MPSI's inference engine to create an expert
  8. system capable of performing site evaluations and, in combination with
  9. financial data provided by the client, conduct an economic cost/benefit
  10. analysis of proposed changes to the client's network of outlets. MPSI's
  11. consultants work with the client's expert to develop a knowledge base which
  12. incorporates the rules for site modifications and evaluations. Application of
  13. these rules creates a set of ``tactics,'' which are used to determine the
  14. effect of the proposed changes on the sales volumes of selected units. The
  15. system automatically identifies the most beneficial changes or selects the most
  16. appropriate locations for new units. Other features include fully customizable
  17. reports, a powerful and structured knowledge base language, user-defined screen
  18. menus, plus ``why'' and ``why not'' reports.
